Clayton Stewart-Waidler Barker
Self-Directed Roles That Clayton Gets to Play...
Traumatized Angry Athlete Transformed into a Positive Compassionate Sober Community Role Model
Clayton Barker grew up with very loving parents, with a Mother who has been a Domestic Violence Therapist, Suicide Prevention therapist and a Hospice Bereavement Counselor who is a Christian Jewish Tibetan Buddhist Democrat from a poor US Military Family and a Republican Father from a wealthy CEO/Military Family who avoided the Vietnam war and became a Doctor with the US Public Health Service, VA System, Low income Indigenous and Migrant Farm Worker Health Clinics, Family Medicine and Obstetric community Hospitals, Private Family Medicine, and Kaiser Permanente. Clayton has had two grandfathers and five cousins working in the US Military who fought in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, who have occupied military bases around the world, with 5+ relatives who have been very successful CEO's and Business executives in Health Care, Public Relations, and the Hollywood TV and Film Industry. In 1984, Clayton's dear Aunt committed suicide when he was 2 years old while his Mom was pregnant with his dearly beloved sister, Hannah, who is a Business Executive, Sailor, Bicycle enthusiast, and Great mom. His aunt's suicide forever changed the course of his life and brought up a lot of anger and depression for him that he has needed to heal, driving him down the path of finding Nonviolent Communication, Spiritual Truth, and Intentional Community building. After being affected by that early war and suicide trauma, Clayton got heavily involved in Soccer, Baseball, Hockey, Football, and Snow Boarding to relieve stress but also ended up making some unwise decisions to watch 16 hours of garbage TV/movies/violent video games a day and take alcohol and drugs to deal with the family war and suicide trauma, hanging out with gang bangers, objectifying womanizers, drug dealers, and wild frat boys in high school and the first 2 years of his 5 year college career. After seeing that 16 hours a day of garbage TV/movies/violent video games and those partying communities did not shift his depression or lead to sustainable health and joy, Clayton started sobering up and got deeply into Tibetan and Zen Buddhism, climbing many mountains, as well as diving into Wilderness Protection, Wild Land Restoration, Gardening, Watershed Protection, Environmental Stewardship, and the American Indian Movements to channel the Wounded Healer Warrior energy into serving the restoration of respect for Mother Nature, Dharma, and intentional community in the United States engulfing 760 Sovereign Indigenous Native American Tribes. Clayton has been sober and free from drugs since 2003, sober and free from marijuana since 2007, sober and free of cigarettes since 2010, sober and free from alcohol since 2010, celibate since 2010, and has not even eaten at a restaurant since 2012. Since the sobering up process began, Clayton received 16+ years of formal meditation training in Asia and North America and is now a positive sobering awakening role model of healing transformation and reference for the Divine Mother energy with both younger and Elder generations, including his two nieces, Elizabeth and Audrey.
